My wife's cardiologist prescribed a 48-hours heart monitor. She said that a nurse would put it on her and give her instructions. At checkout we were told that they didn't have any heart monitors. A cardiologist without heart monitors? What's up with that?
We were then told that they would mail one to us on the next day, 9/17. It didn't happen--still no heart monitors.
Then they made an appointment for us to drive back to WMC and pick up a heart monitor--very inconvenient. We live in Strasburg. It's about a 45 minutes' drive from Strasburg to Winchester. What if we drive to WMC and they still don't have any heart monitors?
We arranged for our daughter, who lives near and volunteers at WMC, to pick up the heart monitor. No instructions. They told her that instructions are in the box.
The instructions say that when the 48 hours are over to mail the box to the supplier. We had been told to bring it back to WMC. After verifying with cardiology that it was OK, we mailed the heart monitor back to the supplier.
Except for the fact that apparently the doctor didn't know that they were out of heart monitors, we have no complaints with the doctor or nurses. We do, however, have a problem with the fact that cardiology didn't have any heart monitors and the parking situation.
Perhaps Valley Health should look into why cardiology didn't have heart monitors and their abysmal parking situation before they spend $20 million on a mental health facility.
However, with a bean counter in charge, that seems unlikely.
